Position Overview:
We are seeking a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Inspector to join our growing civil engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing on-site inspections and ensuring compliance with all stormwater regulations as required by the NYSDEC and the Clean Water Act. This role is essential to maintaining the high environmental standards of Carmina Wood Design’s development and construction projects throughout Western New York.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections of active construction sites for SWPPP compliance
Monitor the installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures
Identify and report deficiencies or potential violations, and recommend corrective actions
Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and site personnel to ensure implementation of best management practices (BMPs)
Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, logs, and photo documentation in accordance with NYSDEC requirements
Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating SWPPP documentation
Support the civil engineering team in addressing stormwater-related project issue
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred but not required
1–3 years of field experience in environmental compliance or construction inspection
Working knowledge of SWPPP requirements, erosion control measures, and stormwater regulations (especially NYSDEC GP-0-25-001)
NYSDEC 4-Hour Erosion & Sediment Control Training Certificate (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
Valid NY driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
Familiarity with civil site plans and drainage design
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and digital field reporting tools
Ability to work outdoors and traverse terrain found at construction sites
