Chancellor Apartments
Utica, NY | Historic Preservation, Interiors & Planning | Completed 2025
Originally built in the mid-1970s, the Chancellor Apartments underwent a complete gut-renovation to provide 93 updated, affordable homes for seniors in Utica. The design focused on creating a more welcoming environment suited for contemporary living, with reorganized apartment layouts, fresh finishes, and enhanced community amenities. Construction was carefully phased so that residents could remain in their homes throughout the process- a true reflection of community-centered design. In partnership with People First and Vecino Construction, this transformation preserves the Chancellor as a vital part of Utica’s housing landscape while ensuring its residents feel at home for years to come.
Notable Features: Programmed and furnished community rooms on each of the building’s six levels | A renovated community kitchen | A new outdoor recreation pavilion | A fully accessible entry vestibule
